Ring Carrier to Bundle Packet Island’s PacketSmartTM Platform Into Softswitch Offering

Packet Island Inc and Ring Carrier today announced that they have entered into an OEM agreement granting Ring Carrier the right to private brand the Packet Island PacketSmart platform for sales with the Ring Carrier MSP/ISP softswitch.

Ring Carrier offers a complete turnkey VoIP switch and services system, RingProvider. While the iPBX is based on the popular Asterisk platform Ring Carrier is using a novel new VoIP switching fabric concept.  The Ring Carrier solution is a highly scalable and configurable system built  on open source and in-house technology.  It enables any MSP or ITSP to introduce low Capex and Opex VoIP services to their end customers quickly and easily.

Packet Island creates scalable solutions that allow Enterprise IT managers and service providers to pinpoint network, signaling, or equipment based problems affecting voice, video, or data quality in minutes.  Solutions are available that allow 24/7 monitoring of real time traffic and signaling net flows remotely, removing the need for staffing each site of a multi-site enterprise with IT experts.  Each solution features the ability to view individual calls, UDP vs TCP/IP traffic flows, dropped packet stats, QOS, jitter, and the ability to perform remote packet captures with Ethereal/wireshark interoperability  to quickly diagnose or predict network issues.

“The Packet Island platform will enable our customers to preassess their end customer’s networks for VoIP readiness, saving them significant troubleshooting time and expense” said Paul Mahler, CTO and Founder of Ring Carrier. “PacketSmart will also give our customers confidence that they are offering their marketplace a VoIP solution with built-in assurance that any call quality issues can be quickly and easily handled before they cause any disruption.”

According to Brenda Keener, VP of Business Development for Packet Island, “We are impressed with Ring Carrier’s innovative new architecture and dedication to call quality for their end customers.  We are pleased to be included as a private branded part of this solution, and look forward to more innovation from Ring Carrier.”

About Ring Carrier
Ring Carrier was started early in 2007 by Paul Mahler who wrote the first book on Asterisk.  The goal of Ring Carrier is to provide Carrier class products and services based on open enterprise technology giving the VoIP customers a viable alternative to current expensive hardware options.
